By adapting to the recent fast changes in society and technology, the human species is evolving, yet this evolution seems to foster capital production rather than ensuring the survival of the species. Sleeping, for instance, have been slightly reconfigured over the last years since it collides with the demands of a 24/7 universe. We aim to generate hesitations to this process by questioning the western notion of comfort, understood as a set of dimensional standards and aesthetic codes that normalize our daily actions by subliminally regulating our productive (bio)rhythms. We are imagining alternative ways of enjoying the basic domestic rituals starting from sleeping, as this simple biological function plays a crucial role within the today hyper-productivity. Shouldn’t architects conceive sleep as an architectural question? By introducing non-codified spatial solutions, we can use the body as an enormous source of unpredictable knowledge which constitutes an alternative to dominant standards.
